Service FAQs

Frequenly asked Service Questions | Number 7 Honda

What is the Maintenance Minder?

The Maintenance Minder is a series of monitors within the car's computer that determines when your car is due for service. The dashboard will display what type of service your car is due for by using the letters A or B and/or a series of number from 1-6.

When is my car due for an oil and filter change?

The car's computer will calculate when your car is due for service based on individual driving habits. When the display on the dashboard reads "oil life 15%", it is time to schedule your car's maintenance.

What type of oil does my engine require?

All vehicles 2011 and newer use 0W-20 engine oil, which is a full synthetic oil. Previous models use either 5W-20 or 5W-30 engine oil; this can be found on top of the engine oil cap.

Do I have to service the vehicle if I lease it?

Yes. Whether you Lease or Finance, you are responsible for the vehicle's overall condition. Also, prior to returning the vehicle upon its lease expiration, an independent 3rd party company will inspect the vehicle to ensure it's in good condition.

My radio says "code", what does that mean?

When power is disconnected from the battery, the radio will require a code to operate. The code comes from the serial number of the radio, not the VIN, which should have been given to you by your selling dealer in the form of a card.

My TPMS light is on, what does that mean?

The TPMS light stands for "Tire Pressure Monitoring System" and in most cases, comes on when one or more of your tires is low on air. You can simply add air to your tires and the light will shut off. In the winter, your TPMS light may come on due to a drop in temperature, causing your tires to lose its PSI. Be sure to visit the service department to ensure your tires don't have any leaks.

My "check engine" light is on, can I still drive my car?

When the "check engine" light comes on, something has triggered the alarm and requires diagnosis. Despite the car being driveable without any noticeable difference, the car requires inspection to ensure no further damage occurs to any of the car's electrical, engine or emissions systems.

If my car breaks down and the dealership is closed, what do I do?
