2013 Honda Civic Obtains Highest Small Car Safety Ratings

There are many things to adore about the 2013 Honda Civic. Aside from being the most desired small car per individual buyers, it is also the safest. Recently, the flagship new Honda model was awarded the highest possible overall safety ratings from not one, but two institutions: the NHTSA (National Highway Safety Administration) and the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety).

The NHTSA and IIHS awarded the 2013 Honda Civic with a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score and a TOP SAFETY PICK+ designation, respectively.

The Civic isn't the only Honda model within the lineup that is regarded for its safety. In fact, Honda is currently leading all other automakers in safety with every tested 2013 Honda model receiving either a TOP SAFETY PICK or TOP SAFETY PICK+ IIHS rating.

Bringing attention back to the Civic, its sedan and coupe variants, are the first and only small car to receive the new, TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating, which requires that a vehicle must obtain a "good" rating in four out of five crash tests and a minimum of an "acceptable" rating in the fifth. The Civic, by the way, earned a "good" rating in the fifth test, as well.
